| St. Mary's Mission Church, near the Recreation Ground off Middleton Rood, was photographed at one of its most flourishing times just before the Great War. It was built to accommodate expanding congregations at this end of the town. The Town Clerk, Mr. Fred Thackray, was organist at St. Mary's Mission.
