Title: Morley Tunnel and Morley Low Station - Set 3
|
 |
| Here the entrance to Morley Tunnel is shown from the platform of Morley Low Station, c. 1900. The tunnel opened in 1848, greatly reducing the isolation of Morley by enabling its people and goods to move around the country much more easily. The old Miners' Arms and the now defunct Albert Inn are amongst the buildings in the centre, above the tunnel, on Albert Road. The building in the top left hand corner is the Gillroyd Hotel which was demolished in June 1969. |
