Ebenezer Chapel and Sunday School

The smoke-blackened Ebenezer Chapel and Sunday School are shown at the bottom of Fountain Street in the late 1940s. The chapel opened in 1886 and cost £3500 to build. By the tiime of the photo, the magnificent railings round the chapel had gone, taken for the war effort. The chapel closed in I960. Mr George Stevens who ran a cycle shop across the road, owned the magnificent car shown on the right.
