22-June-1911. The illuminations were brilliant and all children under the age of 14 took part in sports. Wind marred the outdoors celebrations and a large coloured portrait of the King and Queen, on the front of the Town Hall was blown down and destroyed. There were also senior sports and a beacon fire built of over 200T of material including 130 dead trees from Brow Wood and old beams and timber from Morley Main Colliery.
