Morley and the First Day of the Somme

Somme Book_CoverA 14 page booklet describing how the Battle of the Somme affected the men of the town and surrounding areas who fought there.  A map shows the parts of the front in which these men were in action and tables indicate the casualties – killed and wounded – on  1-July-1916 – the terrible first day of the battle.  A summary is made of the men on the Morley Memorial who died in action throughout the whole of the battle. Newspaper clippings show how the local folks received news of their loved ones. Also included are galleries of photos of individuals who fought there.
